As you may have guessed, things got pretty hectic toward the end of the semester. I’ve been wanting to post, but just haven’t had the time. All-in-all, the students did pretty well this spring. And I made an ‘A’ in my class (Human Computer Interaction). But it got pretty busy there, for a while. The Minecraft server (jram-mcs.ml) is still up and running, but it … Continue reading Updates
You ever had one of those days? When you wake up expecting a meteor to hit, an earthquake to strike, a Republican to get elected, errrr…. ok. Whatever. This is one of those days for me. It’s graduation day here at East Tennessee State University. I’m excited about that. I love sharing tha ‘Big Day’ with my students. I’ll never understand why more faculty don’t … Continue reading You Ever Had One Of Those Days?

I noticed that the Apache2 error log had grown huge. So when I checked, I found that any time I clicked on a link in the admin panel, dozens of errors like the one above were thrown. A little investigation revealed … Continue reading AH01630
I can’t believe it…I have spent the entire day coding. Adding some interesting functionality to my web design class’s web site. I now have it ready to require user logins and welcome users to the site. I’ve been wrestling with PHP all day…fun! fun! Well, really, it has been fun. I set out this morning to do a little Android programming, but never got around … Continue reading I Can’t Believe…
Yay! We are live, once again. I’ve got most of the functionality I wanted in place and am now happily ensconced on my new server! I’ll probably tweak this more as time goes on, but moving to DigitalOcean saved me almost $200.00 … plus good experience with configuring the server(s) and WordPress. My battery’s dying, though, so more later. 🙂
Well, this has proven to be a painstaking process. I’ve finally got my domain straightened out. And WordPress is working. Somewhat. I’m still working on installing and configuring plugins (I pulled them all when the site wouldn’t load). And I’m not happy with the current theme. But, as with everything else in life, it’s a work in progress. …all about the journey, not the destination, … Continue reading And So On
Ohboyohboyohboy! Can’t wait! Should be here tomorrow. I hope. I originally ordered my new Dell without a solid state drive because, well, I didn’t see a whole lot of performance improvement when I installed one in the old Asus. And it was small and had to be constantly monitored for junk files. Segregating data files from application files wasn’t too challenging, but occasionally, I’d accidentally … Continue reading Ohboyohboyohboy!
So I’ve been enjoying several new discoveries lately. It all started when I got tired of the music I’d been listening to and learned again that my favorite podcaster, Dan Carlin, hasn’t posted anything new. So I decided to look for podcasts related to Linux. Believe it or not, I found several. So far, the best among them has been the Linux Action Show by … Continue reading New Discoveries
