Well, the semester has gotten off to a good start, in spite of a couple of warring construction workers. Classes are going well, and I’m having a ball. I keep telling my students that if you’re having fun, it ain’t work….and I’m trying to make it fun. I get to teach some really cool stuff, which makes things easier on that front. I’m not sure … Continue reading So, We’re Off!
So, we’re back about to go at it. Classes start next week. And I can’t wait! This summer’s been a drag. I made some big changes in my life; but sometimes change can be painful. Oh well…as long as you wake up looking down at the grass (as opposed to up), I guess it’s all good. I’m looking at a [relatively] easy semester this Fall, … Continue reading Into the Breech
Well, a lot’s happened since my last post. I don’t know if I mentioned it earlier, but I decided to drop out of ‘doctor school.’ Many reasons, but ultimately, I decided I enjoy having a life too much. After five college degrees, I think enough is enough. And, besides, I really am not interested in conducting research and preparing/defending a dissertation. So. Since March, when … Continue reading July 2018
So my time at LInuxFest Northwest 2018 is drawing to a close. It’s been a great trip, and I’ve learned a lot. A lot, particularly, that I think I can take back home and put to work. I recorded each session I attended, and hope to make the materials (they’re supposed to post their .pptx presentations to their site, in addition to my recordings). But … Continue reading Heatmaps
Hate to hear that Gunny has passed. Sometimes, getting old is a bitch
Hello, Internet! Lots of thing going on…Me’n Kim stayed the night at the Grove Park Inn this weekend. Wow, now THERE’S a nice place! As we were winding our way up the hill, she kept asking, “Is this a house or a hotel?” Then we rounded the corner and saw it. She was aghast…. It was really nice 🙂 Work is work….but fun at the … Continue reading So, yeah, random thoughts…
What an odd week this has been. I didn’t realize that Spring Break this year lasted the entire week. I don’t recall that ever happening before; and am not sure I like it. The time off was nice, but 10 days is a long time for students to forget what you’ve been trying to teach them. Add to that the fact that I’ve been playing … Continue reading Spring Break
So, I just got done working through tonight’s CSCI 1720 lab. I’d forgotten how much work I’ve put into this. It’s a [I think] really good introduction to the Bootstrap CSS framework. Arguably, BS is the most popular framework…and rightfully so, IMO. You get so much ‘out of the box.’ From typography to responsiveness, it’s a really cool technology. This class is ridiculously fun. Content … Continue reading OK…Wow
Ok, I thought the last one was amazing…but check this out!
“You can’t do that on a banjo….” “Hold my beer.”
